User Guide

Step-by-step guidance for every feature of the RooFit platform.

Quick Start

Create your first solar structural assessment from scratch.

Goal: Submit your first structural assessment in under 10 minutes.

Follow these steps in order. You can save progress at any point.

1

Log in & navigate to New Project

From the sidebar, click 'New Project'. If you're on Pay As You Go, you'll be prompted to pay £10 before the report is generated — you can enter all data first.

First time? Your account defaults to Pay As You Go. Upgrade to Starter, Professional or Enterprise in the Subscription page for monthly access.

2

Enter project details

Fill in the project name, client name, site address and postcode. Optionally add your reference number, assessment date and system capacity (kWp). These appear on your PDF report.

The postcode is used by the Location Analyzer to pre-fill wind and snow data automatically.

3

Configure the roof structure

Select the roof type (pitched timber rafters, trussed rafters, flat roof, etc.) and covering material. Enter rafter or joist dimensions, member spacing, span and structural grade (C16/C24).

Not sure of the exact timber grade? Select 'Unknown' — the platform will apply conservative assumptions and flag this in the report.

4

Add the solar array

Define the mounting type (on-roof railed, railless, in-roof, flat roof ballast, etc.), module dimensions, weight and number of panels. Enter fixing type and spacing. The platform calculates total array weight automatically.

If you have the manufacturer's datasheet, use the Datasheet Uploader to auto-fill module specs.

5

Run the structural calculation

Click 'Calculate'. The platform applies BS EN 1991 and BS 8110 load combinations — dead load, wind uplift/pressure, snow load and maintenance loads — and gives an instant verdict: OK, Borderline, or Not Suitable.

6

Download your PDF report

On the project summary page, click 'Generate Report'. Your report includes all inputs, load calculations, verdicts and assessor details. Professional and Enterprise plans include your company logo and branding.

You can add your signature to the report in Settings → Branding.
